Broken Promises
• written for String Orchestra; 8’ 45”
( 2018 )
Program Note
Broken Promises is a reflection upon past times which were filled with love and honesty. Slow and bouncy, this music alternates between passion and rage as to imitate the rush and multitude of feelings when experiencing heartbreak. This work is quite consonant and Romantic, although it delves into absurdity with a brief, tonal shift to reflect thoughts of denial. The title is inspired by views of the Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island and notions of broken trust.
