Musical World Travel

August 23, 2025 in Sioux City, IA

Musical World Travel, a collaborative concert between Connor and Ensemble Zusammen from the University of South Dakota, was a program representing a variety of different locations around the world. From Classical Era roots in Germany and Austria to the tango rhythms of South America and the mix of ragtime and abstract stillness from the United States, the program served as a musical tour through different cultures and stories. Not only were the composers from a range of different countries, but the arrangers of these pieces [for cello ensemble] added even more locations to highlight along this musical journey.

This concert program was hosted at and supported by the Sioux City Arts Center (IA). Guests had the opportunity to move to different floors of the building to hear the sound of ten cellos from a variety of angles and heights. Ensemble Zusammen played atop a labyrinth, a mystical pathway often employed in meditative or spiritual practice.
