Program Note

Watching the Sea is a daydream of a calm, sunlit ocean whose waves become rough as stormy weather and thoughts flow through. The storm subsides and peace returns, all set to music with the nine-octave range of the Expanded Toy Piano. The mixture of colors from register and intonation glitches and/or miracles paints a very vivid image of a common setting of the everyday world. The work requires 2 players for performance.
