a monday morning for a gentleman named thomas!
• written for Solo Bassoon; 6' 00"
a monday morning for a gentleman named thomas! recreates a morning routine of a not particularly interesting person who may or may not be named Thomas through a literal programmatic approach to recreating the mundane with unique sound effects and wide contrast of registration. Written with sarcastic intention, this fictional narrator awakes from a dream-filled sleep to eat breakfast and embark on a morning walk around the neighborhood. Upon returning home, Thomas prepares some tea and watches a little bit of television before taking a mid-morning nap. “Isn’t life good?”
