Façade sets Are You The New Person, Drawn Toward Me? by Walt Whitman in the voice of a woman instead of a man. One line change toward the end allows for a modern context of this song: are the first impressions we make of people legitimate, and do successful flirtations amount to promising romance? Many questions like these are asked, including the final one: “Have you no thought, o’ dreamer, that it may all be an illusion?” In a modern day of interactions which often place women into unfair disadvantages, may we accept that sometimes we see, or need, a façade?
Are You The New Person, Drawn Toward Me? by Walt Whitman is in the Public Domain.
