Lament of the Weary Traveler explores the relationships between wind, voice, and body percussion. These elements combine to produce a human character who is struggling along a difficult journey. The dissonances created between the voice and flute lines aim to inflect a mood of lamentation, serving to inspire the title of this traveler’s tale. The journey’s remainder is left open-ended and uncertain, much like it began.
