Meadow Dance
• written for Woodwind Quartet; 3' 45"

Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon
( 2019 )
Meadow Dance employs several motives and themes repeatedly in order to recreate the sensation of motion, compared to a light breeze moving through a grassy meadow. Written in a diatonic musical language, this music is meant to relax the listener into imaging themselves dancing in nature, completely free. A motive of a bouncy, repeated note first heard in the bassoon aims to drive energy into the music, imitating elements of a march. The mood set offers the idea that optimism and a breath of fresh air are necessities in this modern industrial society.
Connor conducts the premiere of his woodwind quartet.
Connor conducts the premiere of Meadow Dance for his concert "Stories We Tell," featuring Donna Rose, Catalina Arrubla, Jason Koerber, and Anna Goudreau.
