The Swans places two lovers onlooking a pair of swans together in a park at a night. This passionate setting of Sara Teasdale’s poem Swans places significant importance of text painting with jazz-inspired harmonies to illustrate the poetry’s light, gold, and shadows among other picturesque details. The work ends quietly and resolved as if to represent a relieved sigh as uncertainty in the world is replaced by love.
The Swans by Sara Teasdale is in the Public Domain.
