My first international flight went pretty well! It was fun to be checked through security as first-class, but our seats were not first class. I was able to play some Battleship on the screen in front of me as we took off, and then I had a sleepy start watching the movie Arrival. I was able to reach the half-way point before time for dinner. A chicken dinner including some mashed potatoes and a cold piece of shrimp was just what I needed. Post-dinner I finished the film and was absolutely stunned. I was rather sleepy and disinterested during the first hour, but the slow exposition was absolutely necessary. I rewatched the final sequence of La La Land on my friend's screen next to me (now for the third time), cried a little bit, then slept.
An hour of horrible rest transitioned into some more games and then Jonas Kauffman: An Evening of Puccini! I wish I found this video sooner; it's a televised concert of just Puccini's music, with the first 20 minutes presenting a resounding prelude and aria I'd love to learn someday when I'm older. While watching the timer for our arrival, breakfast was served: I simply had some water and a blueberry muffin. I wish I could have finished the Kauffman/Puccini program, but that's alright: the plane landed!
